8 Things About Me ...

I was tagged ...so if this bores you I am sorry! My Sister In Law blogged 8 things about her and challenged me to do the same ... so here goes ... I quite honestly don't know what new things I can say but, I'll give it a jolly good try ...

1.The picture above is my blessing day ... Nov of 196?? ... what a sweetie! I guess the closest I will ever get to having a baby is being one! I am the second of four children or the third of ten! (Four in the original set ... when my parents divorced and my father remarried and adopted my stepmother's two children, that made me default to the third of ten!) ... We are, as follows:

Kayleen
Jerry
Janalea (me)
Bryan
Leon
Becky
Noraleen
Ruth
ElRey
Jacob

What a handful!! Don't panic ...we were not raised in the same house ... so I only drove one mother crazy at a time!

This is the original four!

2. I spent time in the hospital when I was small ... I was 4 and they made me sleep in a crib ... I was humiliated! The Dr called me Jelly Bean, it made me laugh

3. I have seen an angel ... it's a long , personally sacred story so I am not going to tell it ...but I really did see angel!

4. My very first pet was a cat named Jennifer!

5. My favorite restaurant is Red Robin or Chili's ...I also like Rumbi's Island Grill!

6. I am a ham ...I love to preform and I have an alter ego named Auntie Velma! I also write ... I love to write!

7. I am really getting into digital scrapbooking ...that is why you got pictures of me as a child!

8. I love to listen to piano music ...Jim Brickman and William Joseph are my favorites!

Well, there's eight things! I'm sorry I didn't make it exciting ...but oh, well :o)

Gratitude again! ?? !!

I know, I know ... I blog alot about gratitude ... but I'm in the moment ...deal with it :o)
I have been thinking alot about the abundance in my life and just who I have to thank for that ... so here is a poem to share :o)

Prayer OF Gratitude To MY Savior
--Jana Jeppson

Thank you for coming here,
Being born lower than most.
Coming here to insure
that I might return home.

Thank you for touching
my spirit with hope
when my life is crazy
and doesn’t make any sense.

Thank you for bringing love and light
Into a world that will never comprehend
The magnitude or value
Of such gifts.

Thank you for giving me second chances
Over and over again.
I will never fully understand
what you went through
That I might have those chances …
But thank you for loving me that much.

I feel your strength
and gentleness in my life …
I have faith in your power.
I know that you are
always by my side,
Thank you.

In gratitude I come to you
With a humble, broken heart
Knowing that I am not worthy,
But knowing that am …
because you are.
And you’ll lift me up and carry me.

I love you.
I know there are many times
That my actions do not
Reflect that love,
But I know that
you know my heart.

As I celebrate your birth,
I celebrate the gratitude
of everything you are,
And for the testimony
Of knowing you are there.

Yes, there is hope!

I read President Uctdorf's talk on hope from conference. I think we all have moments in our lives when loneliness and despair rears it ugly head!!! After all, there must needs be opposition in all things! I am usually very upbeat and optimistic, but I, like everyone else have my moments when life is too big and overwhelming ...(see my last blog) I'm better today :o) ...I wrote a funny song about my Bishop ...I will sing it at the ward Christmas party ... I will not give you a sneak peak because people from my ward read this blog and they have to wait!!! So, I guess my best advise if you're feeling lonely or sad is write a funny song ...it does wonders for your moral!

President Uctdorf says:

"Hope is one leg of a three-legged stool, together with faith and charity. These three stabilize our lives regardless of the rough or uneven surfaces we might encounter at the time. The scriptures are clear and certain about the importance of hope. The Apostle Paul taught that the scriptures were written to the end that we “might have hope.” Romans 15:4

Hope has the power to fill our lives with happiness. Its absence—when this desire of our heart is delayed—can make “the heart sick.”

Hope is a gift of the Spirit. It is a hope that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ and the power of His Resurrection, we shall be raised unto life eternal and this because of our faith in the Savior. This kind of hope is both a principle of promise as well as a commandment, and, as with all commandments, we have the responsibility to make it an active part of our lives and overcome the temptation to lose hope. Hope in our Heavenly Father’s merciful plan of happiness leads to peace, mercy, rejoicing, and gladness. The hope of salvation is like a protective helmet; it is the foundation of our faith and an anchor to our souls.

Moroni in his solitude—even after having witnessed the complete destruction of his people—believed in hope. In the twilight of the Nephite nation, Moroni wrote that without hope we cannot receive an inheritance in the kingdom of God."

He also goes on to say:

"Hope is not knowledge, but rather the abiding trust that the Lord will fulfill His promise to us. It is confidence that if we live according to God’s laws and the words of His prophets now, we will receive desired blessings in the future. It is believing and expecting that our prayers will be answered. It is manifest in confidence, optimism, enthusiasm, and patient perseverance."

I am so grateful to have Hope ... when life is "too much" I find strength in hope ... hope in Christ gets me through all the gunk ... and we all know that life is clear full of gunk! My very favorite scripture is 2 Nephi 31:20 as follows:

"Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life."

I encourage all to cultivate hope in your life! President Uctdorf counseled, 'We learn to cultivate hope the same way we learn to walk, one step at a time. As we study the scriptures, speak with our Heavenly Father daily, commit to keep the commandments of God, like the Word of Wisdom, and to pay a full tithing, we attain hope. We grow in our ability to “abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost,” as we more perfectly live the gospel.

There may be times when we must make a courageous decision to hope even when everything around us contradicts this hope. Like Father Abraham, we will “against hope [believe] in hope.” Or, as one writer expressed, “in the depth of winter, [we find] within [us] an invincible summer.” (this quote is from Albert Camus ... It is one of my favorites!)
Faith, hope, and charity complement each other, and as one increases, the others grow as well. Hope comes of faith, for without faith, there is no hope. In like manner faith comes of hope, for faith is “the substance of things hoped for.”

I wrote a poem recently about Faith and hope ... I blogged it before ... but because it fits so well here ... I will blog it again!

FAITH AND HOPE
written by Jana Jeppson 2008

When nothing makes sense
faith steps in and I find the logic.

When I question "why?" or "why me?"
faith is the Comforter's arms around me assuring me that everything happens for a purpose.

When I feel abandoned
faith comes in and I realize I am not alone!

When life is too noisy
faith is the music that sings me to sleep!

When life is painful and it hurts
faith is the balm that heals my soul.

When nothing seems fair
faith is the comfort that assures me that it all works out in the eternal wash.

When everything is good
I realize that faith is my joy!

When my heart burns with the spirit
I know that is because of faith that I recognize its warmth.

When I am still ... I can hear God's voice
it is my faith that interprets what He needs me to hear.

When all that's left is hope ...
it is then when I realize that it is because of faith ... that I have hope.

Just thinking ...

I have felt an overwhelming loneliness over the past few days ... I don't know why ... maybe it's all the hate that I see on TV ...maybe it's that my life challenged eternal companion is very absent in my life ...and I really need him right now ... maybe it's that It's the end of the year and I always struggle with coming to terms with all those things I thought I would accomplish and didn't ... a friend of mine sent me a copy of a talk given by Elder Holland at a BYU devotional. I found comfort there and I thought I would share:
1) Everyone faces trying times and there are times when we all feel abandoned ... the following scripture illustrates that better than I ever could.
"O God, where art thou? And where is the pavilion that covereth thy hiding place?" D&C 121:1

Elder Holland said;
"We must not succumb to the fear that God has abandoned us or that He does not hear our prayers. He does hear us. He does see us. He does love us. When we are in dire circumstances and want to cry “Where art Thou?” it is imperative that we remember He is right there with us—where He has always been! We must continue to believe, continue to have faith, continue to pray and plead with heaven, even if we feel for a time our prayers are not heard and that God has somehow gone away. He is there. Our prayers are heard. And when we weep He and the angels of heaven weep with us."

He is my Father, I am his child ... I truly have a testimony of that!
It's nice to know that bad days come to an end and faith will always prevail ...and hope ... without faith there is no hope and hope will take me to a better tomorrow!

“Hold on thy way. . . . Fear not . . . ,for God shall be with you forever and ever” (D&C 122:9).

I survived!!! Or I think I need a bib!!!

Well kids ... I started my new job without the blessing I desired ...I think the person I asked to give me the blessing forgot ;o) I am going to give him a break and assume so anyway ...

I think I am going to like it ...it's a little different than I expected it to be, but not in a bad way! I have a nice desk and a chair that likes my bum! So, it's all good! I even accomplished something today!

My first embarrassing moment ...(of many more to come, I'm sure) I went to Wendy's for lunch today and bought a small chili and a plain baked potato! After returning to work I decided that the chili would be mighty tasty on the potato so, because the Styrofoam container the potato came in was too small, I transferred the potato to the plastic lid that covered it and promptly poured the chili over the top! Well I was holding the dish up against my chest so I wouldn't spill ... and those of you who know me know that the gals on the chest are not small!! Well I began to enjoy my chili covered potato when suddenly I felt the gals getting quite warm and wet very suddenly! The chili was warm enough to melt that plastic lid!!! so in a matter of seconds I had a Wendy's small chili all over my pastel blue shirt!!! (So much for not spilling) Well, to make matters worse ...the chili was burning the boobies so I preceded to dump the potato on me too! Never the less I was picking potato and chili beans out of my cleavage for an hour after lunch ... I did go into the women's room and try to wash the chili stain off ... to no avail ... I ended up just looking like a slob with burned boobies the rest of the day! ....

SO WHAT YOU THINK WILL HAPPEN TOMORROW??
